Altstadt und Neustadt districts

The Altstadt is a district of Dresden. As the name suggests, it is the oldest part of the city, with many beautiful historic buildings and excellent restaurants. Neustadt is the trendy district of Dresden. There are numerous bars, clubs and small stores here that are open until the early hours of the morning. It is the meeting place for young people.

Museums, art and culture

Dresden is one of Europe's best-known cities for art and culture. 60 galleries and exhibition venues, 48 museums and 36 theaters and stages. Dresden offers an extensive cultural program that has something for every visitor! You can see the famous “Sistine Madonna” painting, which is over 600 years old, experience the Kreuzchor, which has been in existence for over 800 years, and gain access to modern art through the exhibitions of Dresden's world-renowned art academies.

Palaces, parks and gardens

One of the many noteworthy spots is the Elbe meadows are a popular meeting place for residents and visitors to Dresden. People eat, party and exercise here. People enjoy the sunset and the unique view of the city skyline. It is a place where many people get to know each other and take the best photos of the city. There are also beautiful Elbe castles, vineyards and parks.

Steamboat trip

The Elbe flows through Dresden. Although this river connects the city with the world's oceans, there are no large ships to be seen. The river in Dresden is shallow and narrow. Numerous historic and new bridges cross it. The enchanting landscape along the Elbe, with its numerous sights, can be enjoyed on exciting steamboat trips. A must for every visitor to the city.

The CUBE

The CUBE is the result of years of basic and industry related research on fiber-based reinforcements for mineral matrices. Both, Dresden and Aachen were the cradle of the textile reinforced concrete (TRC) research in Germany in the mid-1990s.

Mathematical Physics Salon

One of the world's most famous exhibitions displays mechanical marvels and mathematical instruments, mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries. Things that were used to explore the world in terms of astronomy, time, land surveying and weather. This exhibition is complemented by a unique collection of terrestrial and celestial globes. The oldest exhibit is an Arabic celestial globe from the 13th century, one of five existing globes from this period in the world.
