The baroque Moritzburg Castle is a must-see for all romantics. Construction began in 1542 and was completed in 1730. It was the hunting residence of the electors and kings of Saxony and served as the backdrop for numerous classic films. In addition to visiting the castle, it is worth taking a walk through the adjacent pond landscape with its other enchanting buildings. The castle is approx. 20 km from Dresden and can be reached within 30 minutes.

Saxon Switzerland

Wineries

Curious about Saxon viticulture? Between visits to the Saxon Wine Museum in Hoflößnitz, the Schloss Wackerbarth adventure winery, or the Wine Experience World of the Saxon Winegrowers' Cooperative in Meissen. You can enjoy a long “test route” through the Elbland region, which runs along the Elbe from Pirna via Dresden, Radebeul, and Meissen to Diesbar-Seußlitz and Torgau. Wine cellars and wine taverns are located along this “route,” as are vineyards offering magnificent views over the Elbe Valley.
